Chico, CA – May 29, 2015

Two people were injured Friday afternoon when a driver reportedly ran a red light and then slammed into another car at the intersection of E. 9th Avenue and the Esplanade.

The crash was reported around 1:30 p.m., and according to witnesses, the driver of a black Toyota pickup was speeding southbound on the Esplanade when he ran a red light and crashed into a Hyundai sedan.

Chico firefighters had to extricate the driver of the truck, and he was transported to Enloe Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time. The driver of the Hyundai was also transported to Enloe with unknown injuries.
