Carman Volunteer Fire Department, Schenectady, NY
On Friday, November 10th at 15:00, Carman Fire Dept. was activated for a reported car into a house. Upon arrival, command reported a car that had backed through the front of a home and was partially through the rear of the home with the driver trapped in the vehicle. When the vehicle went through the home, it knocked out a main support beam that supported the second floor of the home and landed on the vehicle.
CFD Rescue #134 arrived and the crew deployed our new Rescue 42 Composite Struts to support the structure. Two long struts supported the roof structure until a contractor was able to bring in temporary supports. The driver of the vehicle was removed and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
