A garbage collection crew was alarmed when they heard a man screaming for help inside a trash compactor.They set down the bin, called 911 and firefighters rushed to help at Date Avenue and Chippendale Drive. Sacramento Metro Fire said it took about 20 minutes for firefighters to rescue the man from the tight space.
The homeless man told firefighters he was looking for a place to sleep when he decided to slip into the commercial trash compactor. He woke up suddenly as a garbage crew started to pick up the bin, but luckily, he was able to get their attention before it was too late.
