Melville, NY – June 7, 2015
A passenger in a Jeep that flipped onto its side in a two-vehicle accident Sunday in Melville is in serious but stable condition after being airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, Suffolk County police said.
The accident happened shortly before 1 p.m. on southbound Pinelawn Road near Colonial Springs Road.
The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 61-year-old-man from Holbrook, was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow with minor injuries, police said. The Jeep’s passenger, a 55-year-old man from Ronkonkoma, was airlifted to Stony Brook, where he’s in serious but stable condition.
The other vehicle involved was a red GMC Envoy, with a 54-year-old woman driving. She was not injured. The police are still investigating and could not immediately provide details of what may have caused the crash.
