Tigard, OR – March 26, 2017
A car went airborne in a Cedar Mill neighborhood crashing atop a boat parked in a driveway. Firefighters were dispatched where Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighters found the car teetering on the nose of the boat. Firefighters used jacks and wood blocks to stabilize the car so they could reach the injured driver.
“This is a good example where we have multiple things going on,” said Stefan Myers, a spokesman for the fire agency. “Firefighters are trying to make sure the scene is safe, both for the firefighters and the patient, at the same time we’re treating a medical issue.
Myers said the driver suffered a medical event leading up to the crash and was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center after being removed from the car. Myers said the driver’s condition was stabilized when they left the scene, and that neither the medical event nor injuries suffered in the crash appeared to be life-threatening.
Firefighters also stayed on scene to monitor the removal of the vehicle because of its precarious perch.
